My father left me

I had no guide

I lost all things

Including my will

And urge to learn

Anew the words

That meant a lot

A world to me

I could not read

I could not write

I could not think

I could not sleep

My mind was like

Fully erased

I had no reason

To think and act

And no guilt

One day my son

Sat close to me

He said he saw

My father in me

And wanted me

To emulate him

These words dispelled

The grief I had
