My Dog
I had this dog once,
He was like a brother to me,
Whenever I felt like a dunce,
Laying in his spot is where he'd be.
One day I came home,
My family was in sorrow,
I felt as if I was suddenly placed in a dome
As they told me my dog would be gone tomorrow.
He'd been with me since birth,
Never grew without him,
He was there for me when I felt alone on Earth,
But now my world is dim.
They never told me what happened,
A no kill shelter, they would say
I continued to ask until the end,
When my sister finally gave way.
'We put him down' they said,
I didn't understand,
I went straight for my bed,
My mind was still at a stand.
My heart beat for the dog I loved
I never understood why they did it
But now with his empty cove,
I cry and cut for alone I now sit.
