My Ambition

Dear my ambition,

You must learn some modesty

You must learn to be humble

Otherwise you’ll burn too bright

And like a star

You’ll die

I admire your dreams and aspirations

But surely they could be more realistic

Why must you fill me with such hope at the impossible?

To just let me down by presenting me with reality

You must learn to be more loyal

You give me such a rush of energy to work

Then you abandon me so that you can watch me give up

Don’t you understand that you must stick with me?

You must learn some gumption

You need to understand perseverance

Things come about through hard work

You cannot shrivel up and dissipate when presented with it

Will you ever change, or am I just being too ambitious?
