My 2005 American Treasure

G D A E

The strings that tie me to my happiness

Lives on my 2005 American Treasure

The shining wood as rich and brown as my skin

The bow hair that is as strong as my hair

As strong as my passion and love

For my 2005 American Treasure

The ebony pegs

That creek and crack

Like bones that need to be stretched

The scroll that that swirls forever and ever

That high pitched sweet sound that plays forever and ever

He is my 2005 American Treasure

He goes on stage with me

He sees my nerves

My hearbeat rising

My breath shortening

He calms me

He reassures me

He gives me courage

He glistens in the spotlight

He meets with his bow companion

And all goes silent.....

...............

..............

...............

The real world has returned

My soul has made its way back to me

The sound of applause rings through my ears

Through his ears

It is over.

I bow and smile and cry and hug

My 2005 American Treasure
