Must We Choose?

In innocence, choose one.

Hopscotch or jump rope? Cookies or brownies?

Drums or violin? Ballet or gymnastics?

IPod or Nintendo DS?

Pick! Pick!

In emotional naivety, choose one.

Mom or dad?

Friendships or integrity?

Moving or being left behind?

Fear or self-hatred?

Pick now!

What do you want more?

Who is your favorite?

Which really matters?

You can only have one!

But after growth, in maturity,

you see there can be balance

More than one option,

more than one side of the story

I will choose both, take both, be both, refuse both.
