The Music in My Head

Location

In my head there is music

A score with different melodies and tones

Every tone has its own feeling and own personality

Different time and aspect of reality

In my head there is music

Different melodies jumbled up

But there's one melody that plays louder than the others

It is the chorus of my score

It plays so much louder that I have to tell about it

Let the world know “Hey! Listen to me! Listen Closely!”

It’s a melody I don’t like to share

But it’s one that defines me

It’s a melody that’s broken, scarred, and weathered

And frankly, whether or not I survived isn't the matter

See my life has been all types of weather. Rain, Snow, Drought, and Sunshine

And it’s a melody that only I know. And a melody that no one else knows

It’s so important to understand

That the rise and fall of the melody is essential

Ying-Yang, black and white. The ups are as important as the downs

You can’t have glory without sorrow.

So that is what I tell people when they ask

“What makes you, you?”

Experience. Sorrow. Happiness. Loss. Death. Joy. Celebration. Sadness.

I’ve been through it all. How about you?

In my head there is music

A score with different melodies and tones

Every tone has its own feeling and own personality

Different time and aspect of reality

In my head there is music

Different melodies jumbled up

But there's one melody that plays louder than the others

It is the chorus of my score
