Despite the songs always inside my head,

The reality of silence that’s there

Continues  to make me feel perturbéd

With a burden that is not mine to bear

And so, I listen every hour

To music loud, the bass beats hard and strong

Giving me, it seems, a grasp of power

To drown out all that feels empty and wrong

While it is only a matter of time

Until the sun shall return to the sky

I feel the bells in me begin to chime

Pushing me to climb from the hole, to try

“Go”, they seem to say, their tones soft and sweet

“Find your way out, run quickly on your feet”
