palpable wetness of prehistory

slime of swamp and motor oil monsters

earth-blood, ripe pollinated ecstasy

at the ankles of flower-bloom saucers

golden, gaping, hungry angelic mouths

and tuber-toes mining for your riches

thwarting some prenatal summer drouths

you who lies below dewy green pitches

ensnaring cleats and implements of sport

within your viscous, roiling miasma

spitting brown flecks at their biting retort

you, thick with men’s bones, their pearl phantasma

source of abundant arboreal fruit

nurturing both child’s hand and thirsty root
