Mountain Range
Your hospital room was white
You looked small in your bed
Like a robot
With wires sticking out
I was sitting beside you
Watching the screen
As Mom and Dad talked
To a nurse outside
I felt numb
There was a mountain range
Rising and falling
A red line
Flowing across a black canvas
That was your only hope
And mine
When the mountain range
Decided to fall flat
I watched
I was so, so numb
So numb that I couldn't hear
My screams
The door slamming open
Sobs from my parents
And the frantic beeping
Of the screen
With no more mountains
