Mother

Born of your tears,

you nestled my head close to your breast.

Swaddled in your skin,

you pushed me to rise above and showed me to stand.

Risen from your eyes,

you taught me to smile when the sun is beating down on my back.

Taken from your lips,

you shook me awake when my lashes brushed my cheeks in pain.

Touched by your hands,

you held my chin in your fingertips bringing your warmth to my heart.

Loved by your soul,

you taught me that love is what keeps us sane in this world.

Without you and all that you have given me-- who would I be?
