Monsters

Look at the world, the vast entirety it is

Look at yourself, the little amongst the billions who live upon this Earth

It’s night, it’s dark, and you’re all alone

When you scream, no one is there to help you

The bed you sleep, you tuck your blanket in

Hiding under it, you hope that nothing will hurt you

Take in your earphones, escape with music

But noises are louder and your mind twist and turns

You think, “Don’t look under the bed, it’s scary!”

What lies under the bed? That makes you curious

You slowly pull down your blanket, the chills run up your spine

Your hands shiver and quiver, your eyes dart like the pendulum

Look down and down under the bed

Whoosh! You warp into a pitch-black mess

Trash, smoke, and death galore

Cloud rains blood and sorrow runs to the floor

You run and run and there’s nowhere to hide

All the monsters around you surround every direction

You take a stick and draw a circle around

In hoping that demons won’t be entering your circle

It’s safe, it’s warm, it’s comforting, it’s small

Even if days pass, the circle won’t linger on

The world is full of monsters and you don’t know where to go

Almost hopeless, you want to dive into the darkness

The hands holding each other right near the chest

A huge beam strikes above the sky

All monsters turn white and the world you see is all gone

You wake up, it’s 8:00AM

“This is all a nightmare,” you think to yourself

You walk out of bed, getting ready for a shower

The circle is still under the bed…
