Monsters
When I see your face
Your eyes don't belong
I see myself in it too
That's our monsters getting along.
That's them taking control of us
Forcing their blood from our lips
Showing their thoughts in our eyes
Shrouding our love in its mist.
Who came first, I'll never know
Why we can't control it, I'll have to see
Why it pulls me so far below
why there is a monster living within me.
Maybe there's ore than one
Living in different parts of us
Or maybe it's just an excuse
Of our uncontrollable disgusts.
And we can't control them in the moment
But we see them after we leave
After we hurt each other once more
After I say I don't believe.
Your monster loves mine
But my mind cringes at your thought
My heart screams and screams with you around
But I can never understand its talk.
Are you good? Am I bad?
Is there a hope we could have had
Of finding someone else with this beast,
or another sould to eat another feast?
When we thought they stayed beneath the bed
We could see each others' bright eyes without any doubts
Think of the birth of new lives
Not thinking of incoming despair and soulless clouds.
Again, I saw it in your eyes
Pushing all the way to your fingertips
Pushing me beyond my edge
every time you swung I kept hoping you'd miss.
Yet I can't help but know
You wouldn't do it alone
It can't have come out of the blue,
You saw it in me first, didn't you?
My monster must die
But I'm afraid it's killed me first
There's nothing to stay for me
But your blood quenches its thirst.
We have to release the pain
Get away from me, and let your own go
But if you ever think of me again,
I'll never stop thinking of you, you know.
You ahve it so much harder, my friend.
Just tell me how to help
So my monster won't rip you to shreds
And we can understand how we both felt
No more monsters.
No more tears.
No more friendships ended.
You know that I'm here.
I don't want my monster to stay
Even if it keeps me alive
It will not control me
Somehow, my spirit will arise.
You will return too,
It's in your heart.
When you reach your eyes again,
We can smile, for a start...
