The Monster that was Me

I noticed something different  as I walked down the hall today.  It was strange, almost a monster,  and it stared straight back at me.  I took one step closer, towards the mirror, towards this unknown beast. And as I got a closer look, it smiled; scaring me.  "I am you, and you are me!" It proclaimed with its evil grin. I'm what you've become, every dark place you have been. It seemed to get a twisted hope from the despair in my eyes. But I couldn't let it win this warwon't accept this deceptive lie. I ripped the terrible mask off, I'd been wearing for too long. This monster I'd become; wasn't worth it, wasn't me. So I stared it right back in the faceand said I'd had enough
