Monster in Disguise

Location

The wise warn, 'don't give in

to the cruel monster in disguise,'

Who deviously hides in childrens' pockets

and hugs their thighs.

But he persistently shouts their names.

He begs them to press a key.

What is supposed to be a minute

soon becomes eternity.

Children tune everything out,

surrendering to the sticky web of cyberspace;

they shamefully lose the value of time

on top of conversations they cannot replace.

And every time their mothers asks to spend time,

Eyes remain glued to the screen.

Yet years later when they regret giving in,

it will be far too late to intervene.

So don't give in to the cruel monster's game.

Learn from these experiences of regret and shame.
