For Momma.

I dedicate this poem to the mommaFor always being there for meFor clothing me when I was too young to cloth myselfFor through my lord and savior she birth me, nurtured me, and made me who I am todayIf only we could think back on everything momma has done for us, we would only scratch the surface when we tell her, Thank you Momma.Momma, the one who took care of me when I was sickMomma, the one who taught my right from my wrongMomma, the spiritual leader of my householdMomma, the dinner cooking, dishes washing, carpet vacuumingMomma, licking her finger to get the crust off my faceMomma, keeping me safe warm and protected when dad wasn’t there for meMomma, the holy ghost carrying momma who prayed that I’d see the light in my lifeMomma, as GOD ordered her steps, she ordered mineMomma, dicaplining me when I didn’t deserve it so that we wouldn’t even think about doing something wrongMomma, giving me the spiritual knowledge I need for kingdom livingMomma, who said I was chosen by GODI can go on and on about what momma has done for meI can truly say that momma holds the keys to my loved filled heartSo I say thank you momma, Thank youIf Mary was alive today she would say that I was the best momma that ever livedShe would say who would have thought that the baby I delivered would soon deliver youAnd for that I say thank you mommaAnd I don’t think it would be a bad guess to guess that Jesus last words before his death were to MaryIt wouldn’t be a bad guess to guess that his last words while he was on the cross were, “Thank You momma.”
