Moments of the Night

When the clock strikes twelve, she hears a sound in the night.
Once again, her dad has had too much to drink.
He sneaks into her room, with not a pitter patter on the floor.
She stays silent as he hurts her, and ruins her innocence once more.
As he leaves, all she wants to do is cry.
The next day, she goes to school with a skip in her step.
Inside, she finds the principal and tells him what happened.
For once, she feels like she has control in her life.
The cops go to her house to arrest her dad while she goes in for tests, which come back positive.
Now she is taken to a nice home with a good family.
For her, no more moments in the night.
