Mom

She fights demons while herding sheep

When most quit she doesn’t sleep

Her eyes haven’t cried all of these years

Despite her facing all of her fears

The superhero without a cape

In every step of growth

Lessons bloomed within us both

As I cried from failures woes

She taught me what to really know

With soft words to stop the tears

She says failure is not real

The superhero without a cape

Giving things was the main battle

Especially while she rocked my cradle

With racist misogynist hindering success

She pushed through it doing her best

The different battles she fought daily

Taught me who I want to be

A tireless worker without a break

 A superhero who doesn’t need a cape.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
