Misplaced Faith

I pull myself deeper

as my mind is a weight that

pulls me down

into the ocean where

all the strange and ugly creatures

make their home in my

abandoned temple

worn down by the hands of

those who built me

in the name of the worship

of a creature called 'love'

which like all worshipped deities

does not exist in the real world,

but only in the minds of the

deperate and needy who look

feverishly for a purpose

and who fall

hook, line and sinker.
