Misery

If I could change one thing, it would be misery.

Because misery is as old as history.

No one deserves to feel such pain,

that cannot be fixed with personal gain.

Misery can be caused by many things,

not by the lack of cars and rings,

misery is caused by oppression and war,

by negative thoughts and being hit with another closed door.

When your way of life is no longer available,

when you cry yourself to sleep and fall asleep at an empty table

those are the things that I would change,

the feelings of depression and anxiety that are too strange

The medicine you take to keep you sane,

the things you feel then you cry again

Those are the things that I would change

The feelings of depression and anxiety that are too strange.

When your heart seems to beat out of wack,

and when your thoughts seem old, your words are slack

When you lack desire for life anymore

your bright eyes, once blue, are now grey and you're done for

When you want to take that desperate leap of faith

off of the walls of the empire state,

those are the things that I would change

the feelings of depression and anxiety that are too strange.
