The mirror doesn't mean to deceive us,
Just a piece of glass that reflects who stands before it,
Every image, however, is reversed.

We can't see any deeper than skin,
Nor can we see past the barriers that cloud our mind,
The barriers that push away confidence and self-acceptance.

The mirror is not to blame,
It merely shows us what we think,
Our own judging minds tell us we're are ugly, stupid, too thin, too large.

The mirror isn't telling us this,
The mirror knows more,
It knows every reflection is perfect in it's own imperfect ways.

However, the mirror can't show us anything but what we see,
It can't tell us the beauty it truly sees,
For we must see it ourselves.
