Mint Bliss

Today I ate a piece of gum,
it was so minty it hurt my nose,
and yet somehow it was sweet.
I like chewing gum most days,
but sometimes I bite my tongue

Today I ate a piece of gum.
That gum tasted like suicide,
It tasted like sad songs,
and ex girlfriends,
It was like cheep beer,
and close calls,
bad pencil sketchs,
and missed opportunities
and yet somehow it was sweet

Today I ate a piece of gum.
It was like for a simple second,
I was transported back a year.
It was a time I thought I hated,
and yet somehow missed.
Being a teenager is pretty stupid,
after all, it was just a piece of gum
