Might As Well Be Fake

Oh the filter,

The super appealing,

Eye catching,

Version of me.

Is that seriously who I want to be?

A girl who is insecure

Would rather be a blur

Than in focus

Because in focus

Everyone can see

Everyone will know the real me

The girl I am supposed to be

Sure it’s better in this lighting

Better with this filter

This top

This make-up

But let’s be real

Looks are fleeting

They can easily take a beating

Never keeping us satisfied

Because our pride is too important

And we can’t be real

Even if we feel

That is what we should be

Always thinking she’s better

Prettier

Smarter

Cooler

Stop selling yourself short

And see who you really are

It isn’t that hard

This is who I was born to be

Silly, confused, beautiful me
