Midnight Thought

It's a long night
Filled with thoughts
And there's this strange fear
Squeezing my heart
Even though I knew
We wouldn't go far
I couldn't help but believe
In wishes made on stars
Hatred makes you numb
And love leaves scars
Though I wonder what's worse
Feeling too much, or nothing at all

I've spent way too long
Thinking about the past
When all I really need
Is a fresh new start
To reach out for my goal
I have been given the chance
But my vision always blurred
And I kept on missing darts
I don't pray much
But I do believe in God
And I'm ashamed when he answers
Despite my sins and flaws

So as I feel myself fade away
One last time, I'll cry hard
Time is running out, but I have hopes
Maybe for once, the drowning man will be saved by the straw
