Melanin Blues

Don’t calm me over with sweet melodies of song verses Pacify me with

we’ll rise, we’ll rise..we will rise

Then have me knocked over with melancholic rhythms banging against my heart as you see nothing except skin hues of hatred while still claiming to love the rainbow!

Melanin blues,Melanin blues,Melanin blues,

I got you

Melanin blues

Deja vue to me is singing . ‘We shall overcome “

again and again and again

They got you shamed for being a descendant of a slave,

Forgetting parts of you are descendant of the master too

Melanin blues,Melanin blues,Melanin blues,

Beautiful hues

Melanin blues

You’ll have none of that supper at his table,

You’ll have none of that 40 acre, no mule, no equal school, none of that

But you’ll rise, you’ll rise, you’ll rise

Melanin blues,Melanin blues,Melanin blues,

Bloodlines paying dues

Melanin blues

The miseducation

Comes with ignorance which is blatant

You don’t know you,

They hide in digested flesh particles of hatred too

Lost found nation what to do, what to do …

with the Black  Man?

Frederick yells - DO NOTHING!

Let that man be!

As you rise, as you rise, as you rise

Guttural stop!

Man can’t have you thinking,

Guns start to pop

Let them fester and burn

Start again in the morn

Dog days, long nights

Deja vue - repeat

We Shall Overcome, We Shall Overcome, We Shall Overcome -

 ain’t no freedom song

It keeps you WANTING, and waiting- standing still

With fist pumps to skies still awaiting your rise

Free your mind

Free yourself

No permission needed…

Melanin blues, Melanin blues, Melanin blues,

Freedom dues

Melanin blues

Stop singing and DO!

YOU GOT THEM MELANIN HUES!
