I’ve seen spires circle ever higher,
Pierce the sweet air,
And pin drifting clouds amid amaranth and azure skies.

I wonder at the expanses we build:
How tall will that building grow?
Where will this suburb flood to?

I’ve seen clandestine paintbrushes travel linearly,
With a resounding drone,
And decorate every sky with etchings that soon fade from sight.

I watch from the edges of the world
As natural and manufactured forces collide.

I take note, compare and contrast, and I wonder:

Is our industrialization its own force of nature?
