Maturity

Maturity is not a set mixture of knowledge,
Nor is it a set etiquette determined by society.
It is the acceptance of others and self.
Maturity is knowing wisdom comes not by age, but experience.
It is knowing when to speak and when to listen,
When to comply and when to give consent.
Maturity is the defiance of lust and pride.
It is self control and integrity at a prime,
To listen to every theory and debate with openness.
It is the ability to travel a proper road
Or to find the guidance that will point the way.
Maturity is staying off the lost road,
For each step of the road grows darker,
And after much travel, no light can be found,
Resulting in segregation and violence.
Maturity is staying off the road, or traveling the fork.
