The Masks We Wear

The Masks We Wear

“Masks for sale! Masks for sale!”

The man of many masks did hail.

“Masks for parties, masks for tricks,

Masks of boars and masks of chicks.

And if too old for masks you feel,

Know that I have masks more real.

Masks of charm and wit to feign,

Masks to cover up the pain,

Masks to show a happy face,

Masks worn by all the human race.

With masks of every shape and shade,

Real life is but a masquerade.

And man is but a sack of lies,

Who wears his masks until he dies.

But those who take their masks off see,

What a human ought to be.”
