I am street lights and gun fights,

dark shadows that creep along the pavement.

The bang bang and authoritative officers.

I am Roosevelt Road,

crowded sweaty pews filled with sinners.

I am the clay roadsof Mississippi where the cicadas reside

in their trees , where the wind blows a cool breeze.

I am the fried chicken , sweet potatoe pies , and collards.

Bible reading and tender knee kneeling

Asking for prayers that always come right on time.

I am the anomaly of American statistaics

College bound not baby bound

Paper writing not booty wiping.

I am the game changer , innovator and collaborator.

The women in the white coat with a stethoscope.

That can save lives without even trying.

I am the new start to a generation that is falling apart around me.

This is me the blood in my veins that pump through my heart.
