Manic

Sat, 09/06/2014 - 20:15 -- Nia Roe

Today a little boy passed by me
and puzzled at me tap, tap, tapping away on my laptop
While I sat amongst 150 other real life people with my earphones in
watching videos of people halfway across the world
making themselves laugh on camera
and every laugh they got, every piece of hate, every morsel of love, every twiddle of the thumb
gained them another hundred dollars
gazed through my pearly reflection
moving pictures of people who never dared leave their comfort zones and here i sat
doing the exact same damn thing.
Lonliness and Solitude
well they’re two different fish in an empty sea
This hardened metallic gold engulfs me
This silver puppeteer pulls my strings
like the blonde at the gas station
twirling bubble gum around her fingers
seduction
Only this time she has failed
its corruption
its destruction
its years upon years of eruption
Loneliness and Solitude
well their two sides of a parabola like my left and right earlobes
both connected by a smile
see…
but like I being alone
except when I don’t.
Loneliness swallows you whole
engulfs your soul
hangs your mind up on a pole
denotes your self
in all its wealth
rids your body of its health
rips your sanity of its vanity
until you fit in with humanity

see the walls upon your cave?
Do they close? Need you be saved?
Know that this is where you rest
this is where you are your best

but loneliness
loneliness can swoon you like
a black widow ready to love
like ted bundy in all his charm

make you feel deeply,
breathe lightly
and hold tightly
it will sink you into the whys and hows
of the 8th wonder of the world
it can drain your sleeves
and claw the words from your tongue
like nails on a chalkboard
make you wear new lenses
where you vision is flawed
until finally you breathe deeply
and see that you’re nothing
but remnants of a memory
shattered glass beneath their feet
broken lullabies that sing withered roses and scattered ivy
and show the wrinkles in your bricks

but loneliness is the road most travelled by
a dark forest full of fear
solitude is like a jewish holiday
a sixth sense only few can regard

it can nurse you like a new mothers chest to her first born child
give you moons in galaxies of lost meteors
bring you solace through the echoes
chimes of reticence
you’re a snowflake in the aroma of a cabin fire
you’re a ugly christmas sweater two sizes too big

nestled around the calescence
of cotton mouthed mocha
where it all burns away
no longer live the yellow eyes in
this forest full of fear
now it fades;
the smirks, the quirks.
your mind is wrench to your hearts unscrew
yet again you’ve found yourself in the umbra of your moon
but you’re no longer hiding
no you’re not hiding, dear
you’re conquering your fear of the dark
