The Man Who Made Me Smile

The first time that I met you, I remembered how I cried.

All you wanted was to make me laugh; oh, how you tried.

With witty joke after joke,

Yes, you made me smile.

Fears that once controlled me have slowly been slipping away.

Every opportunity I've had to run, I've had a reason to stay.

You're the only one I want

The one who set me free.

No, you're not God, but surely you were sent.

I remember our first date and how I was content.

I felt at peace with you-

So comfortable in your arms.

I remember the first time you told me, "I love you!",

And the sparkling first kiss that was long overdue.

It was then, I realized what I had.

I understood what it meant to love.

It only makes sense that you're the one who taught me

How to love and appreciate all things with such beauty.

Our love may not be flawless,

But it certainly is delightful.

I have faith we will endure and grow until the end of our time.

No, life won't always be perfect; the words won't always rhyme.

But, know I'll always love you:

The man who made me smile.
