I was a in Cub Scouts before I was in Girl Scouts

My dad was the troop leader

He treated me just like every other boy

We learned about astronomy and constellations

We made paper mache volcanos

We learned fire safety and first aid

My first girl scout meeting was very different

They spoke about feminism and female accomplishment

Before that I didn't know I needed to be empowered

Not everyone gets to experience both the education of young boys and young girls

and how different it is

If we empowered our daughters with knowledge instead of 

"One in five women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime..."

They wouldn't grow up feeling they hold an automatic disadvantage
