Lullaby from Hope: The Equalizer

Oh darling how beautiful you looked

with your eyes of burning lights and elusive hope.

With your slight beckoning

the hearts of men poured to do your bidding

and you bind them with chains of industry

and weighted them with subtle commodities,

oh how beautiful you looked

from the shore of the dead

with your brilliant eyes of burning lights and elusive hope.

Hulking monsters of steel above your head,

trades and traders prosper in paper and lead,

a river of bloody sustenance flow downhill,

and you with your iron hands that turn the wheels

turned the very river flow uphill!

Oh how beautiful your eyes,

your eyes of fiery delight!

With the grim flames that fanned your steel,

fed with flesh and bones

shall never heal.

Faces smeared with the ashes of industry

will look to see the fiery eyes of light and elusive hope,

and see the reflections of our tortured demons in the damning slope,

and the angels in their suspended towers of steel that hangs above our heads- call it life.

And in life we live,

with it's damned blood, toil, sweat, and tears,

for years and years.

Hands of iron and ash,

forged the steel stairway to the starlit havens,

and the iron armors to barge the deep and tortured infernos,

and with these hands of mine in flesh and bones

to brave the towering steel and iron thrones

to forge a tower and throne to call my own.

Oh darling how beautiful you looked-

with your elusive eyes of crimson lights and burning hope.
