Loving You

You were playing with my hair

As we lay there in your room

And I said baby there's something

That I gotta tell you

You looked at me with your big brown eyes

I could feel you growing a little shy

As you whispered “I’m ready

For whatever you say”

And I said babe I love you

And not how you’re used to

My love for you is bigger than me

You don’t have to answer, but

I need you to listen, I’ve got to tell you

Everything

I love the way you’re gentle, patient, I never know what you’re thinking

But I don’t need to, cause I know you

I love your kindness, and strength, and all of the ways that you’re careful and calming to me

I know I’ve got more growing up to do

But I’ve already grown up so much loving you

I could feel you breathing in,

Felt the blush paint all my skin

As I closed my eyes and prayed

While I waited

You said “baby I don’t know what to say

I love you, but I am afraid”

I kissed your perfect hand and said

“I’m scared too, but here’s what I’m going to do”

I said I’m going to love you

And not how you’re used to

My love for you is bigger than me

I know you’ve questions, and I don’t have answers, but I’ll give you everything

I love the way that you’re gentle, patient, I never know what you’re thinking

But I don’t need to, cause I know you

I love your kindness, and strength, and all of the ways that you’re careful and calming to me

I know I’ve got more growing up to do

But I’ve already grown up so much loving you

Yeah I love you,

No one’s ever meant so much to me

I love you,

You see all the darkest parts of me and don’t leave

Yeah I love you,

And I’ll hold your hand through it all

While we figure it out

I love you,

Even if you’re not ready now

You said babe I love you

And I’m just not used to

Love that is bigger than me

I’ve got so many questions, but

I’ll wait for answers, thank you for everything

I love the way that you’re brave and creative, I always know what you’re thinking

Even with your walls up, cause I know you

I love your kindness, and strength, and all of the ways that you’re willing to wait on me

I know I’ve got more growing up to do

But I’m growing up from loving you

You were playing with my hair

As we lay there in your room

And I said baby, I think I’m in love with you
