For love's sake

Psalm 73:25

25 Whom do I have in heaven but You?
I desire no one but You on earth.

Oh, Lord! How do you perceive me?

Do I love you and I know not?

I can’t see this at this moment

And it appears I just forgot.

What is love ... can I perceive it?

In the scriptures, You show it well

Is it based on the forever

or engrained so I can tell?

Love never acts on impulse

It never acts at all

Deep in the inner part

Replenished after fall

You either got it or you don’t

Has little to do with self

Books explain that it’s a choice

But they should collect dust on a shelf

True love may just happen

He just comes your way

And that seems the best part of it

For only He brings another day

God looks not at our laboring

But at our love for Him

He should be first in who we are

To be filled up to the brim

To abandon our first Love

After we’ve been saved through Him

Is like embracing death again

And treat blessings rather slim

If we serve the Lord Jesus

It should be for love’s sake

Nothing less will do for that

It would be just fake

If Jesus is Lord of all

He should be over our affections

He wants us to love others for His sake

To be completed in perfection

Whatever is outside of Him

Should be considered fake

Whatever label we put on it

It’s not for Heaven’s sake

If still worldly ways and cares

Are embraced for satisfaction

Then the like and lust for comfort

Will be your delirious attraction
