Love Must Go Free

When my heart is missing a beat

It cannot feel any short of defeat

Knowing your mind can win you over

But your above won't even have it sober

When the pains of loss give you a kick

And you know that it's not even your pick

It's not fair, it's never been

Why can't you let me live to make proud my kin

Each day declares my love for you

But you declare war; nothing new

Don't you think there's a limit

As to how far my love will exhibit

Because when you stick me too hard

It's rare for me to draw a good card

One day these bricks will fall from my back

And you won't longer be able to cast your whack

My words will be renowned and my might will be casted

It's amazing how long I've actually lasted

For the days ahead will certainly be marked

Eventually the dogs will have gone and barked

And my love will no longer be seen

Will no longer exhibit it's sheen

It will depart and travel to the spot

Where someone will stand in your lot

You may say no it must stop

And I will keep going; I won't drop

She will come along and make her mark

I will never again be so stark

Not a one will block the road

And I'll go forth and sing my ode

This time and forever it's only me

I'm on my way to go and be free
