Thank you for loving me

even on the darker, stormier days

when I'm not so pretty and my life is swimming in chaos; 

while I watch,

drowning.

That support,

that conditionless love,

at the end of the day,

is what keeps me moving forward. 

That is what inspires me to keep trying,

to keep doing my best,

be my best,

continue to be alive,

with passion,

not merely just going through the motions,

Without that, I am nothing more than who I was already before you came into my life,

who I am without you.

I do not need you.

But that does not mean that I don't want you,

 because I  want you so so much and I wouldn't be who I am now without you.

You make my life so much better,

brighter,

filled with life and love.

I've always been the one to save others,

sacrificing myself in the process in order to do so. 

But you taught me what it was like to be the one rescued.

I will always remember what you've done for me. 

I will never stop loving you.

You were the one who saved me,

and in doing so,

I learned how to save myself. 

For the first time in my entire life.

Thank you for teaching me how to love and how to respect myself,

all through learning how to love and respect another human unconditionally.
