Love in a Hopeless Place

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

Hades truged through the school hallways

Longing for meaning

Doing his work without a thought

Filling journals with drawings of crows and

Trees in the midst of Autumns massacre

Waiting to leave and escape

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

Walking through the woods

Searching for companionship

In the moss that grows on stones and the

Fungus eating away at the forest

He stops upon a pond.

There he sees

A girl, a single blooming flower, and a forest full of decay

He watches her for a while, and returns home after she left

The forest seems like a darker place without her

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

He goes back to that spot

Every day until the winter chill kills

Even the most resillient plant

Once more, Hades goes through the day

Head down, hoping once more to escape his prison

When he sees her

On a poster for a play

"The Birth of Spring"

Heart beating, blood rushing

He hurries home

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

The play comes and goes

An unimpressive affair, with a single highlight

Her.

Persephone.

Hades can't help but clap

And he buys her a flower

The same one her saw that day, so many weeks ago

But she's whisked away by her mother to celebrate with her family before he can

See her

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

Weeks pass

Months pass

The ground is muk

Everyday is worse for Hades

It's been weeks since he's seen the girl

But now he knows her name

And knows she would never notice him

So he sits with his head down

And draws crows nesting in full oaks

An outcast

With an interest in the macabre

A loner

With a desire for love

A hero

Wearing the hate of a villian

On a walk one day

Hades returns to the pond

He sits and opens his pomegranate, and thinks

He watches steam come off the ice

And doesn't hear here approach

He's startles

But offers her some fruit

She accepts

An outcast

With an interest in the life

A loner

With a to make her happy

A hero

Wearing his head high

Hades walks once more to class

This time with his head up, and a grin on his face

Once more he absentmindedly doodles

But the only thing on his page

Is full of life and cheer

A single flower

That he's seen many times before
