love: The Biggest Lie

Sat, 03/09/2019 - 05:17 -- Wit

happiness

joy

forever

these are words now defiled
by the four-letter word we call
love
its sweet poison
a dagger to the heart
and now I bleed
emptiness
sadness
confusion
my bedroom floor
stained by its
deadliest concoction
grief
loniness
failure
an evil trick it was
and a marvelous dunce I was
Its salesman, Hollywood
I believed him!
Promised me a world of roses
of absolute romance
one that endured time
one that grew between differences
lasted against all odds
What a fool I was!
they were
all lies!
You hear me?
ALL
LIES!
I gulped that offerred cup
I trusted with all I had
And what did I get,
a wicked demise.
I followed the directions on the bottle
All to the final dot.
I got my rusty armour
Ignoring the holes in it
Pollishing it to the brightest shine
I went to war against the world
And I found her
Of course, I didn't forget to slay the dragon
And so it seemed everything was as promised
In my body, lay her heart
And within her, she carried mine
A perfect couple to be
A forever after needing to be seen
Lies!
ALL
Lies!
When the road home seemed clear
It happenned
In a blink of an eye, no time for a tear
Our chapter became nothing
Somewhere along the way, I missed a direction
Was it the rickity bridge?
Was it the talking dwarves
The fairy god mother?
Or, perhaps, the dragon lived?
The truth...

I was no match for the evil Stepmother

All I wanted
Was her
A princess

And all I gotwas,
lies...
