Love

Sometimes,

I am happy for my friends

Happy with seeing them bloom into budding romances,

Their smiles so beautiful on their face

Their glee so apparent

Other times,

In the company of myself alone,

I feel the pang in my heart,

Sad for all they are

I'm happy for them, yes, that much is true

But what do they have that I do not?

I know I'm not pretty, nor handsome,

But I am kind

And the love I have to give

Is one of a time

I give people my all,

I just want them to smile

I want to see them triumph, or see them fail,

But stick it through all the while

And I know that one day,

If I ever find someone to call mine

And someone can call me theirs

I will hold them tightly, and take a deep breathe there

For they will be half my world.

And until then

I bite my tongue

And keep being happy for these young

Lovers, who are just finding their way in this

Beautiful world that has been left unsung

And I will be happy for them,

With all my might

Because they deserve my light,

And I deserve theirs

Whether for romance or friendship

Our bond, our love, is still strong.
