Is This Love?

Lemon squares

And sorbet eyes

Belong to the one

That I am in love with.

They think of themselves

As judgemental and crude,

But instead they are more

Than that.

They are adorable,

Sweet as sugar cane.

With a moral backbone

As strong as a bamboo chute.

Everything about them just screams

The word soft

And delicate.

Even though they consider themselves

Fragile or “bubble-wrapped.”

They stand up for what they think is right.

They are the one who sits in the back

Of a crowd and yells an idea out

And exposes the undeniable truth.

They are courageous.

They put up a front of some-sort

When they are around certain people.

They act tough and stoic,

But when it’s one on one between

Us…

They laugh, howl even,

At my outrageously complicated humor.
They listen and understand.

That’s why I love them.

Let me rephrase that.

That’s why I admire him.
