This is Love

I'm smiling again

On the bus

At work

Crying softly on the stairs.

I'm remembering again

The moments you and I have spent together

The good

The bad

The in between

And they make me smile.

The time we tried going to the beach and it began to rain

Yet we stayed and danced around

And when the rain lifted and we went home

We curled up in blankets by the fire and you held me tight.

The time we worked on our yard

And you sacrificed your outdoor bar

For my thriving garden.

The time I got sick

And had to stay in the hospital

You laid beside me

Reassured me that you'd never leave

That you'd be there for me no matter what

And gave me a reason to fight.

The time we argued

We were stressed

And needed somebody to blame

I ended up crying at the bottom of the stairs

And you came and sat down next to me

With a fresh picked rose

And hugged me tight

Whispering "I'm sorry" to each other.

You've seen me at my worst

Anxiety

Depression

Yet you stayed

And when I asked "Do you still love me? Do you still care?"

You smiled and kissed my forehead.

And said

"Always."
