Loser - A free verse poem

As a cry for help
Escapes my lips
I realize the sad truth:
They don't hear.

It was these people
I came to.
They were my safety net.

Still, they don't hear
The small whisper in my lungs,
The deep anger through my voice.
Even if they heard
They wouldn't care

Even as the the sun climbs
Over the hill tops
And commands the crimson roses to bloom
Joy was lost in the words
No one heard

A promise of forever broken.
Do you see me?
Do you care?

As I sit, unseen,
In the seat across from
Friends past
I am no longer there

Stabbed by the former team.

Words once again
Burst through my teeth.
A silent tear
Trickles down my cheek.
Those empty words
Dissolve into nothing more than
Ash.

I used to find
Comfort in them
But as they turn
To leave my life
Forever
I close my eyes and attempt
To let them go

However they will never realize
They left me
Behind
