Looking in the Mirror

Looking in the mirror at myself,
Wishing I could be anyone, anyone else,
And I can't really tell you why,
Other than I've always been afraid to fly,
And even though I try I can't see the light.

If only I was proud to be me,
If only who I was was who I wanted to be,
If only I didn't spot all my imperfections in one glance,
If only I went crying,
Looking in the mirror.

I try so hard to be perfect,
And I strive so hard to do my best,
Yeah they tell me I'm worth it,
But still they won't even give me a second glance,
Because perfection is a word,
That is so overused,
Nowadays,
And still I have yet to use it on me,
I try and try and try so hard,
but to no avail,
Yeah everyone knows that I'm the one,
Putting myself through hell.

If only I were proud to be me,
If only who I was was who I wanted to be.
If only I didn't spot all my imperfections in one glance,
If only I went crying

Looking in the mirror at myself,
Wishing I could be anyone, anyone else
And I can't really tell you why,
Other than I've always been afraid to fly.
