Look Here

I met a girl made of silver

Her eyes shone like mirrors

You could glimpse your soul in them

But you could never match hers

She told me about her dreams

I looked the other way

I knew what she needed

But all I wanted was her

I held her so tight

She ran from my grasp

I was never a mother to her

And yet she was all that I had

I discovered her in that place

Over the ocean blue

I knew I would see her everywhere

I was so naïve to her pain

My eyes landed first

Oh what devastation

 The tears how they fell

Too late for her now

I could give them money

I could give them shelter

A thousand thoughts ran through

But all I had was her

The hand was mighty

His touch reached every grain of sand

She was going to give herself to them

She didn’t know of His plan

When the sea took her prey

I knew it was for me

I will never see her again

I wish I could see you again

I wish I could’ve stopped it

But all I can do is search through the rubble

I wish you could see me now

Healing what has been broken
