The Long Lost Friend Sonnet

The Long Lost Friend Sonnet

By Andrea Luthman

Blistering cold from a frightening night

By crackling fire I sit in ease

Snow and ice on the window seem to fight

Through a crack in the door I feel a breeze

Oncoming winds bring forth a howling sound

A dark figure peeing in makes me leap

Outside the footprints is what I have found

Whom are to a four-legged, furry creep

Feeling soft and knowing I am not bold

Happily said, “Come, away from this cold”

From the look on his face, I did not frown

Wishing my new friend were able to talk

No matter, in spring we shall take a walk
