Long Distance

Moving west with two cats

you rode shotgun

you wrote a poem-

not to share

I left, twenty years behind

you chose not to come

permanent, you were the

missing family piece

twenty years I was not number one

family came before me

Long distance is our reality

so Face Time

short, expensive trips

you say you love me

this can not be so

you practice chicanery

to you family, to me

residence is not a priority

I will meet someone and nothing of 20 years will matter; you have control of coming or staying.

You are my long distance.
