The Lonely Girl

Sitting in class trying to hide the pain.

She hides behind a mask

Wishing for help in vain

But the teacher doesn’t ask.

She walks down the hall

The subject of the tormenting.

She feels so small

But never admitting

That everything that is happening

Has left her depressed.

It takes all she has to keep going

Her feelings suppressed.

If only someone would ask her

“Why she has to hide?”

“And what is the matter?”

She wouldn’t feel tied

She wouldn’t feel so alone

And would know they were there.

She would know that their hearts weren’t stone

And that someone cared.

All she wants is for them to ask

“What is the matter?”

Then she could finally take off the mask

And give her a chance to answer.

So next time a teacher or student

Pass by that lonely girl

Remember she might need acknowledgement

Because she might need someone to tell.
