Looking at you, I finally see
It’s never before seemed phony to me.
Compared to this chance I’ve been given

You skate on a thin sheet of ice
Dressed up to appear as a glacier
Because as you fight the oncoming tide
Your rush to the past, serves to shortens your future

Why live with your head in the clouds?
Thoughts centered on obscure memories
What’s past is gone but you don’t accept
The past is far beyond reach

Yes what we once had was heaven
And life really seemed like gold
But don’t forget the future endless possibilities
Even a diamond in the rough it might hold

The glory days have long since passed
The bright action of change has dimmed
It seems as though life is now dreary
With naught but to relive what has already been

The present is weary and uncolored gray
Devoid of light and bright possibility
But don’t forget that what was once present
Is now the alluring past

Why live with your head in the clouds?
Thoughts centered on obscure memories
What’s past is gone but you don’t accept
The past is far beyond reach

Yes what we once had was heaven
And life really seemed like gold
But don’t forget the future endless possibilities
Even a diamond in the rough it might hold

What’s that I see? Now finally glancing ahead
There is no definite path to tread
But what is, are unending fields
That is limited only to imagination

Why live with your head in the clouds?
Thoughts centered on obscure memories
What’s past is gone but you don’t accept
The past is so far beyond reach

Years from now I look back with wonder
How could I have stopped where I was?
But that now has no hold over me
Not knowing even now, where I go;
I stride off through the fog of new adventure.
