Little Mermaid poem

Location

“She must kill him in order to live, but she refuses. She can not find it in her heart to harm him.

She tosses the knife to the water and then, she throws herself into the waves, ready to die.

She waits to dissolve into sea-foam, but instead, she is lifted up.

Winged women hold her as she ascends.

They tell her that she may have lost a love, but she gained a soul.”

This is an experimental poem that I made based on the ending of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid. The Little Mermaid has always been my favorite fairy tale!
