List of Happiness

There is so much in life that is not pointless, and even if it really amounts to nothing in the grand scheme of things, it matters right now, and it makes life have a point. There is so much to be grateful for.

am grateful for my cat.

I am grateful for my dog.

My new fuzzy blanket that my mom bought me yesterday.

The way her eyes lit up when I said thank you.

No Commercials Nine to Noon during summer on 98.5 FM.

The three basketballs on display in my room.

My dad’s electrodes that I sneak to help my back.

Minty shampoo.

Back scratchers.

People who scratch your back.

The recurve bow that I disassemble and reassemble a thousand times a day.

Bubbly keyboard covers.

My friends running up to me smiling, excited to see me.

My friends saying “I thought of you when…”

Loud laughs.

Quiet jokes.

Katy Perry and Fleetwood Mac.

Beyoncé and Linkin Park.

Protests.

Catching something one-handed really fast.

The Warriors dunk team.

Confetti and parties.

Random trips to San Francisco in the middle of the night.

An ignored alarm drifting further away as I decide that it’s okay to skip first period.

Being able to sit alone when I want, and be with friends when I want.

Anonymous messages.

There are a billion little things to be grateful for. A billion things that make a pointless existence a very meaningful, very happy life. And I will remember these things. I will continue to add to this list, and continue to look at this list when things go wrong. I will thank my mom more often to see her eyes light up like they did just yesterday, I will listen to my music on blast in my car and sing as loud as I want, I will take random trips with my friends and take random days off when I need them. I will be more grateful. I will be happier.
